Wholesale Deal: China Considers Granting Philippine Access To Scarborough Shoal

China Considers Wholesale Deal To Grant PH Access To Shoal, Chinese Adviser Says

Chinese academic and government adviser said that China considers a wholesale deal to grant the access of Filipino Fishermen to the Scarborough Shoal.

Wu Shicun, head of government-run National Institute for South China Sea Studies said the access of Philippines fishing vessels in the South China Sea has been already thinking of China. He also said that after President Rodrigo Duterte has visited in China, they start to think to grant Filipinos to enter the disputed waters.

“A wholesale bilateral fishing industry deal is still being discussed, an agreement has not yet been reached,” said by Wu at a forum in Beijing quoted by Interaksyon.

Wu said that the disputed water was prohibited to either Filipino or Chinese Fishermen. They will be only allowed to enter the waters for humanitarian reasons such as when a typhoon hits the water. He was also involved in diplomatic efforts to restore the relationship between the two countries.
