Days after winning the US presidential elections, Donald Trump has already chosen his chief of staff at the White House and his chief strategist.

Based on the announcement, Trump has awarded the role as chief of staff to Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC).

On the other hand, Stephen Bannon, from the conservative Breitbart News Network, will serve as Trump’s chief strategist.

Mr Bannon rest temporarily as Breitbart’s executive chairman to act as Trump’s campaign chief.

“I am thrilled to have my very successful team continue with me in leading our country,” Mr Trump said in a statement released by his campaign.

“Steve and Reince are highly qualified leaders who worked well together on our campaign and led us to a historic victory. Now I will have them both with me in the White House as we work to make America great again.”

Speaking to reporters in the lobby of Trump Tower in New York on Sunday, Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, said Americans would hear the name of the new chief of staff from Mr. Trump within the next couple of days. And he did it on Monday.

In this role as the chief of staff, Priebus will set the tone for the new White House and act as a conduit to Congress and the government.

Earlier, there were questions about whether Priebus was getting the position and Conway answered it.

“I think Chairman Priebus has expressed an interest in the position,” the campaign manager said. “There are several people being considered. And it’s Mr. Trump’s decision ultimately.”

The 44-year-old Priebus, acted as a bridge between Trump and the Republican party establishment during the campaign.

He is also close to House Speaker Paul Ryan, from Wisconsin, who could be instrumental in shaping the legislative agenda of the new administration.

During election night, Priebus appeared on stage beside Trump when the president-elect delivered victory speech.

Conway declined to reveal what position in the Trump administration she has been offered to hold. However, she cited that she has discussed her options with Trump.
