A majority of Supreme Court justices are poised to trash the petitions seeking to block the burial of the late former dictator at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
A majority of Supreme Court (SC) justices have manifested their intention to uphold the order of President Rodrigo Duterte to allow the burial of the late Former President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB).
According to an unimpeachable insider of the high court, a majority of the Supreme Court justices are poised to reject the petitions seeking to block the burial of the late former dictator at the Heroes’ Cemetery.
The source, who asked not to be identified, said that the Supreme Court justices argued that President’s order was issued by virtue of his “presidential prerogative”.
According to a report by The Manila Times, the daily was able to gather inputs of at least eight justices of the Supreme Court who shared their opinions on the issue. A separate source told that the number of justices posed to junk the petitions seeking to block the Marcos burial could go from eight to ten.
