Nur Misuari accused Malaysia as behind the kidnapping for ransom incidents in Mindanao.
Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) Founding Chairman Nur Misuari accused Malaysia as the one behind the incidents of ‘kidnapping for ransom’.
On his first day as a free man since the attack in Zamboanga City in 2013, Nur claimed that Malaysia had been using his people in kidnap for ransom activities.
Misuari spoke to the members of the press during his visit in Malacañan upon the invitation of President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday, November 3.
His trial and warrant of arrest for rebellion were suspended for six months to give way for the peace talks.
Speaking on the Presidential podium after being allowed by President Duterte to use it, the MNLF Founding Chairman said, “Our source is saying that since Malaysia is the one [that] is involved in this kidnapping for ransom, probably one day, I will drag their leaders into that International Criminal Court. I have all the evidences in my hands. My people are everywhere and besides, they cannot escape because they are hiring my own people”.
“Even Sipadan, they hired my cadre officers, because they opt for the millions”, Misuari added.
He was referring to the Sipadan Island in Malaysia where a hostage crisis took place in Year 2000 involving 21 foreign tourists who were taken as kidnap victims.
The Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) was behind the kidnappings and the group brought their victims to Sulu.
“I said, ‘Stop it, I don’t have the heart to see these people after they make this conspiracy to destroy the honor and integrity of my people”, Misuari said referring to an instance when some personalities from Malaysia tried to meet him in Saudi Arabia and in Indonesia through his nephew.
President Duterte is scheduled to fly to Malaysia where he is expected to raise the issue of piracy.
