Barangay And SK Elections Postponement Bill Signed By President Duterte
On Tuesday (October 18, 2016), Palace announced that President Rodrigo Duterte had already signed the bill that postpones the Barangay and SK elections 2016.
In a press briefing at Malacañang Palace Assistant Secretary Marie Banaag of the Presidential Communications Office announced the postponement of Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls as the president signed the bill.
“According to Executive Secretary Medialdea, it was already signed by the President but he would have to wait for the aircraft that would bring home the signed law and for proper transmittal to the proper offices,” said by Banaag quoted by GMA.
She also said that Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea is waiting today for the package for proper transmission because it will be transmitted to the official proper channels.
Earlier, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez had already proposed to postpone the SK and Barangay elections 2016 and let the president fill the empty slot in the government under his administration.
