A photo tweeted by Top Rank Inc. shows Vargas taking a break from a media appearance to watch on his cellphone Pacquiao’s first fight with Juan Manuel Marquez in 2004.

Pacquiao, the first-term Filipino senator and former congressman of Sarangani is an eight-division champion.

He will come out of retirement to fight Vargas as a challenger on the WBO welterweight title in the main event which will take place at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of UNLV in Las Vegas City, California.

Before their respective fights, it is a common practice for boxers to study their opponent’s previous bouts to see their strengths and weaknesses in order to know what strategy will they use to win.

Pacquiao-Marquez 1 fight was an epic battle that saw the Filipino icon knocking the tough Mexican thrice in the first round, only to keep rising and eventually forcing a split draw.

The two superstars went on to fight three more times in their boxing career where Marquez had the last laugh when he knocked Pacquiao out cold in 2012.

Vargas, having the 27 wins, 1 loss, with 10 knockouts, will attempt to do defend his title.

The pay-per-view event on November 5 will not be aired by either HBO or Showtime, but instead will be handled by the promoter of the event, Top Rank, Inc.

In the co-main event, Nonito Donaire, a four-division champion and current WBO super bantamweight champion, will make the second defense of his title against undefeated Las Vegan Jessie Magdaleno, fighting for a major title for the first time.
