Dir. Gen. Ronald Dela Rosa Officially Sworn In as PNP Chief

It’s now official, the newest Philippine National Police Chief is no other than Director Gen. Ronald Dela Rosa or more popularly known for his nickname as “Bato” Dela Rosa in the police force.

Gen. Dela Rosa became the 21st Chief of the Philippine National Police and he will head the 160,000-strong police force in the Philipipnes. He was sworn in during a ceremony at the PNP Headquarters at Camp Crame on Friday morning.

The 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines, Pres. Rody Duterte personally handpicked Gen. Ronald Dela Rosa to take over the police force after succeeding Gen. Marquez in a bid to fulfill Duterte’s promise to suppress illegal drugs and criminality in the country within six months of office.

In order to be appointed as PNP Chief, the President first promoted Dela Rosa with the highest rank in the PNP as Director General. Present during the oath taking of Dir. Gen. Dela Rosa were former President Fidel Ramos, Defense Chief Delfin Lorenzano, DILG Sec. Mike Sueño and Senator Manny Pacquiao.

Before Gen. Dela Rosa assumed office as PNP Chief, he was a member of PMA” Sinagtala” Class of 1986. He also served as the Executive Officer of the Directorate for Hunman Resource and Doctrine Development.

From October 2013 to December 2014, Gen. Bato Dela Rosa also held positions in the command group of the PNP Intelligence Group. He once served as Chief of Police in Davao City during the administration of the former Mayor Rody Duterte.
