Pres. Rody Duterte Inauguration to be Held in Malacanang

The incoming President of the Republic of the Philippines, Pres. Rody Duterte said during an interview with the media that he will take his oath of office as President of the Philippines in Malacañang to lessen the expenses that go with the ceremony and to fulfill his promise during the campaign period.

According to the 71-year-old Mayor Rody Duterte, he will only serve finger foods for the guests, take his oath, and give a 5-minute speech during his inauguration on June 30, 2016. He also clarified that there will be no eating after his inauguration and noted that he will go nationwide on TV and just spell out his governance in five minutes.

The Davao City Mayor also said that he does not need to practice in Manila for the highly anticipated inauguration as President and revealed further the he will fly to Manila during the day of inauguration.

During the inauguration of Pres. Duterte, he is looking for a barong made of cotton and he plans on maintaining a two-car security set-up, refusing to be followed by several security escorts as the usual set-up of the previous Presidents of the Republic.

Pres. Duterte also said he has yet to decide where he will stay following his inauguration but noted that he is considering going back to Davao City after his inauguration, where he plans to hold Office as President.

“Wala bang hotel diyan sa malapit? Kasi para makamura ang gobyerno. Mahal ang ilaw diyan sa [Bahay] Pangarap. I’m still having a hard time deciding, kung mag-uwi ba ako o hindi. Meron naman kasing maraming flights ang Davao. In Davao, 34 flights a day.”
