Gilas Pilipinas mainstay and former Ateneo de Manila University star Kiefer Ravena trains withe one of the world’s most recognized basketball star, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers. The Filipino basketball star received some advice from Portland’s superstar ahead of the Trail Blazers’ Western Conference semi-final playoff game against the Golden State Warriors in Oakland.
The 22-year-old Kiefer Ravena briefly worked out with the Blazers’ superstar guard on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila), before the Trail Blazers were set to play the Golden State Warriors in Game 5 at one of NBA’s oldest coliseum, the Oracle Arena.
In an interview with ABS-CBN, the Ateneo star also revealed that he got some advice from Lillard as he was quoted as saying “Sabi niya lang, kailangan talaga maging tough, mentally and physically,” Ravena told ABS-CBN News of Lillard’s advice to him. He also added that Lillard also added that “Whatever league you play in, it’s all about character,” he added.
Damian Lillard is considered as one of the best point guard in the NBA having won the Rookie of the Year Award during the year 2012 and has been named twice with the NBA All-Star Team Selection.
The 25-year-old Damian Lillard was drafted with the sixth overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers. He signed his rookie scale contract with the Blazers on July 13, 2012 and went went on to earn co-MVP honors in the NBA Summer League.
