Liberal Party standard bearer, former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas hits back at Vice Presidential candidate Sen. Chiz Escudero after the later stated that Mar Roxas has done nothing to improve his hometown Roxas City. In an interview with the media, Mar Roxas belied the statement of the senator that he has done nothing in Roxas City.
Mar Roxas was quoted as saying “Siguro, tanungin din natin ‘yung mga kababayan niya sa Sorsogon kung anong nangyari doon,” (Perhaps, let us ask his constituents in Sorsogon on what happened there.) Mar Roxas stated.
The annointed candidate of Pres. Aquino added further “What can you expect from somebody like Chiz na saling pusa, nais na namang makahalo sa usaping pang-nasyonal,” Roxas added.
Mar Roxas also revealed that “Alam ko ang Capiz, dati mahirap na mahirap, dati walang tubig, dati walang kuryente at negosyo. Ngayon maunlad na maunlad, ilan ang Jollibee , ilan ang malls. Ito ay hudyat na umuunlad ang isang komunidad at ang mga tao dun ang makakapagsabi niyan,” Roxas said.
Sen. Escudero who is now running for Vice President took a swipe at presidential candidate Mar Roxas, citing his failure to improve Roxas City, despite holding various government positions in the past few presidents.
According to Sen. Escudero, Mar Roxas has been close to three Philippine presidents including Pres. Aquino but failed to deliver more for his province. Mar Roxas joined Pres. Estrada as DTI Secretary during the year 2000, he was also reappointed by Pres. Arroyo and tops the senatorial winners in the 2004 elections.
Mar Roxas lost to VP Binay during the 2010 elections but hold key positions under Pres. Aquino, first as Secretary of DOTC and later on was appointed as DILG Secretary.
