The President of the Republic of the Philippines celebrated his 56th birthday on Monday and he invited one of the administration party’s political rival Sen. Grace Poe by sending a personal invitation to the current front-runner in presidential surveys.
The confirmation of Sen. Grace Poe’s invitation during the birthday party of Pres. Aquino was contrary to the previous reports that the presidential candidate gate crashed the birthday celebration of the country’s chief executive.
According to a Palace source Sen. Grace Poe texted the President a birthday greeting on Feb. 8, and followed this with the usual teasing between friends: “Hindi ka ba magpapakain? (So, are you giving a treat?)”
In response to Poe’s text message, Mr. Aquino invited her to his party that night, his last as the country’s chief executive.
Presidential candidate Grace Poe also shrugged off the buzz about her being at Mr. Aquino’s birthday bash which raised speculations that she is an administration party’s secret bet for the presidency. Sen. Grace said they remain good friends despite being from rival political parties.
The birthday party of President Benigno S. Aquino III was held at the Presidential Security Group (PSG) compound in Malacañang, featured Japanese food and entertainment provided by the PSG band.
