Nonito Donaire Faces Cesar Juarez to Reclaim a Boxing World Title

Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire will try to reclaim a world title on Friday (Saturday in Manila) when he meets Mexico’s Cesar Juarez for the vacant World Boxing Organization super-bantamweight crown at San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Donaire vs. Juarez

The 33-year-old US-based Filipino fighter has a record of 35-3 with 23 knockouts while his opponent Juarez has 17-3 with 13 knockouts.

The former world champion in five weight division, Nonito Donaire was dethroned by the unbeaten Jamaican fighter Nicholas Walters 14 months ago, losing the World Boxing Association Featherweight title in Los Angeles, California.

After his humiliating lost against the undefeated fighter, Donaire bows to come back strong in the world of boxing as he stopped Brazilian William Prado in the second round last March in Manila and followed it up with another impressive stoppage of Frenchman Anthony Settoul in the second round at Macau in July.

Although Nonito Donaire had a strong showing during his last two fights, he says that he needs the win on Friday night against the 24-year-old Mexican fighter Cesar Juarez.
