Reasons Why Full AlDub Commercials Was Not Shown on ABS-CBN Shows

The AlDub love team is now considered as the most bankable artists in the Philippines today, scoring multinational brands on their various commercials which could be translate to millions of income to the popular on-screen split couple. Although most commercials of AlDub were shown in competing stations, there are instances that the full commercials of AlDub were edited when shown on ABS-CBN shows.

Kapuso stars Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza a.k.a. Yaya Dub are now considered as the hottest endorsers in the country today. Together as a love team, AlDub, the couple are the brand ambassadors of eight brands namely McDonald’s, Talk ‘N Text, Zonrox, Bear Brand, Coke, Hapee, Belo and Downy.

As individual commercial endorsers, Alden Richards is currently endorsing two products namely Boardwalk and Snow Caps while Maine Mendoza is also endorsing two other products O+ Mobile phones and 555 sardines.

Fans and followers of the famous AlDub love team wondered why is it that the full commercials of the AlDub love team were not shown on Kapamilya shows unlike what they did on Kapuso shows. In ABS-CBN shows, the commercials were usually edited, showing only Alden or Maine, they are not seen together and the commercial are not shown in its entirety.

One of leading celebrity news website, Pep.ph revealed the reasons behind why is it that the famous couple’s complete commercials were not shown on ABS-CBN shows. The main reason was the memo issued by the Kapamilya Channel, stating the rules and regulations on commercials aired on ABS-CBN.

According to Pep.ph, the Kapamilya Channel issued a memo dated Nov. 3, 2015 addressed to the Media Suppliers Association of the Philippines (MSAP), Philippine Association of National Advertisers (PANA), and Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of the Philippines (4A’s), the Kapamilya network reminded the advertising groups of the network’s “Broadcast Traffic Operations Guidelines” dated May 2008.

Based upon the guidelines the “Management reserves the right to decline acceptance of Commercial Materials that contains, cites, and/or illustrates” a number of factors, including commercial materials that contain, cite or illustrate “other TV station or program either directly or indirectly (e.g. character/role portrayal, segment/portion illustration, direct mention of the program title, use of program theme song or songs associated with the program, etc.).”
