Three Filipino Families Included in Forbes List of Asia’s Richest

The Philippines is home of the three richest families in the Asian region according to latest Forbes magazine’s list released earlier. Forbes revealed that the three families in the list of richest include the Henry Sy family, Ayala Family and Cebu’s pride Aboitiz Family.

The world’s leading magazine released the first Asia’s Richest Families List naming at least 50 clans from the 10 Asian countries with a minimum of three generation actively involved in building their fortunes.

Forbes revealed that a net worth of $2.9 billion was required to make the list, the latest list from Forbes was topped by the Lee Family of Samsung Group in South Korea with a combined wealth of $26.6 billion.

Mall tycoon Henry Sy and his family is considered as the richest Filipino families with a net worth of $12.3 billion. The family of Henry Sy includes his children Teresita Sy-Coson, Henry Sy Jr., Hans Sy, and Harley Sy, hold key roles in SM Investments Corp., which has interests in retail, banking and property development. The Sy family ranked 13th richest in Asia.

Zobel Family:

Ayala Family

The Zobel Family is the family behind the Ayala Corpotation, one of the country’s largest conglomerate and the owner of the country’s oldest businesses. The family ranked 35th richest in Asia with a net worth of $4.2 billion. Jaime II, the eldest, serves as the chairman and chief executive of Ayala Corp., while his brother Fernando is president and chief operating officer.

Aboitiz Family:

The Aboitiz family is the 44th richest family in Asia with a net worth of $3.6 billion. Under Aboitiz Equity Ventures, the family has businesses in power, transportation, banking, food and property.
