Veteran playmaker and considered as one of Asia’s finest point guard, Jayson Castro revealed during an interview with sports media that he is now ready for another Gilas Pilipinas stint as the country prepares for the 2015 FIBA Asia tournament which will be held in China. During the past few days, Jayson Castro admitted that he initially had reservations making another tour of duty for Gilas Pilipinas due to injury.
Although the prolific Talk ‘N Text point guard did not commit earlier to Gilas Pilipinas, he voluntarily submitted himself to be part of the team when the former New Zealand coach was named as the head coach of Gilas Pilipinas 3.0.
Coach Tab Baldwin is also the consultant of Jayson Castro’s team in the PBA, the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters. Jayson Castro revealed during an interview that he hesitated before to be part of Gilas Pilipinas because of his injury and he wants some fresh guys to be part of the national team.
“That time kasi may injury ako atsaka that time iniisip ko rin ‘yung mga bata na mas fresh kaysa sa akin,” Castro said. “This time, na-feel ko na kaya ko ulit mag-serbisyo para sa bayan. Ako na mismo nag-suggest kay coach Tab na gusto kong mapasama ulit sa pool at makalaro para sa bansa natin.”
