According to the Budget Secretary, there is an item for increasing the salary of government workers under the Miscellaneous Personnel Benefits Fund (MPBF) in the 2016 budget but could not say how much it will be pending Aquino’s approval of the salary hike formula.

The DBM also noted that the agency is close to completing the benefits and compensation survey that it started in 2013 to determine the necessity of raising government workers’ wages.

Based upon the initial findings of the DBM survey there is a 45% discrepancy between the pay of government workers with their counterparts from the private sector.

Since 2010, the government has implemented three rounds of salary increases for its workers. The last stage of the Salary Standardization Law was implemented in 2012.
