The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology released an updated list of schools on or near the West Valley Fault line, the list was updated in anticipation of a strong earthquake that may possibly hit Metro Manila areas and surrounding cities and provinces.
According to Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Armin Luistro, although some of the schools are not directly on top of the fault, they are within a five-meter danger zone.
Some experts noted that the West Valley Fault line possesses a threat of a large scale earthquake with a magnitude of 7 or higher within Metro Manila. They also predicted that the death toll of the said dangerous occurrence could be as high as 35,000 and 120,000 or higher injured and more than 3 million needed to be evacuated.
