What’s the secret? Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterto made the confession.

“Kill them all”, this is the city’s secret to make it safe according to the mayor.

It has been his unwavering stance towards the criminals to which he shred to over 200 delagtes during the first national convention of the Workplace Advocates on Safety in the Philippines Inc.

“You rape a child in my city? Papatayin kita, walang problema sa akin ya,” Duterte said.

Recalling the latest recognition the city has acquired from Numbeo.com, Duterte shared the reason behind why the city was tagged by the crowd-sourcing site.

“We’re the 9th safest city, how do you think I do it? How did I reach that title among the world’s safest cities?…kill ‘em all,” he said as his audience applauded.

Being firm, he said he did not care if the Commission on Human Righst (CHR) file cases against him in court if it sees problems in the way criminals are being dealt with in Davao.

“Why should I be afraid to go to prison?”, he asked the audience.

Duterte also urged delegates, mostly safety officers of big corporations and owners of companies, to choose the best bet for President in 2016.

In the convention, Duterte said that the suspension of the death penalty has only emboldened criminals.

“When you start to be soft in this country and allow Western thoughts to sip in, that’s when you start to have problem”, he said.

Amid reports that he will be running for 2016 Presidential elections, the city mayor has said he does not covet to be the President in 2016.
