Gilas Pilipinas Cadets Defeated Indonesia in the 2015 SEABA Championship Opening

The Philippine national basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas Cadets defeated Indonesia in the opening of the 2015 Southeast Asian Basketball Association (SEABA) Championship with the final score at 92-36 as they started their winning note at the OCBC Arena in Singapore on Monday.

Although the Indonesian national basketball team opened up strong by scoring the first three points, the Gilas Cadets took control of the game until the final period. Right after the three points scored by Indonesian, Filipino nationals Troy Rosario made a dunk followed by a jumpers by Almond Vosotros and Kiefer Ravena as they took 3-0 lead, and never looked back.

During the opening period the Gilas Cadets posted a 26-7 advantage and paddled their lead against the overmatched Indonesians. Former UAAP MVP Ray Parks led the Gilas Cadets with 15 points and six rebounds off the bench, while Almond Vosotros scored with 13 points and Kiefer Ravena scored with 11 points and four rebounds, three assists and four steals.

Gilas Pilipinas naturalized center Marcus Douthit did not attempt a single field goal but grabbed five rebounds in a little under 12 minutes of action.

During the game, the Philippines shot 53.1% from the field and dominated the boards, 43-27, and took advantage of Indonesia’s 26 turnovers and posted 30 points off miscues. The Indonesian nationals made only 27.5% of their field goal attempts and took only five free throws during the entire game.
