Undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. promised to knock out Manny Pacquiao in the fifth round of their highly anticipated May 2 mega fight which will be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The predictions of Mayweather was based on the previous knocked out victory of Juan Manuel Marquez against Pacquiao.
The last time Floyd Mayweather Jr. knocked out an opponent was way back the year 2011 and it came against an unsuspecting, open opponent, Victor Ortiz who had left his guard down in the fourth quarter.
During the bout of the 38-year-old Mayweather against Ortiz, the opponent of Mayweather tried to apologized to him for a head butt when the undefeated American boxer uncorked a left hook and followed it up with a right that floored Ortiz for the full count.
According to Floyd Mayweather, his predictions of knocking out Manny Pacquiao in the fifth round was based on the sixth-round stoppage of Marquez against Pacquiao in 2012. Mayweather guarantee that if Marquez knocked out Pacquiao during the sixth, then he can finished out Pacquiao in the fifth because he beat Marquez like a slave during their bout.
Meanwhile, some boxing analyst noted that Mayweather’s claimed that he can knock out Pacquiao based on Marquez victory against the Filipino boxing icon, might not merit an accurate comparison. During the Marquez vs. Mayweather bout, the Mexican climbed two weight cl(–foul word(s) removed–) from light-weight (135 pounds) to reach the welterweight catch weight of 144 lbs for the title fight.
Aside from Mayweather’s knockout against Ortiz, the last time he scored a knockout was way back the year 2007 at the expense of Briton Ricky Hatton, whom he knocked out in the 10th round.
