Ateneo Lady Eagles Defeated La Salle & Took Game One of UAAP Women’s Volleyball

The depending UAAP Women’s Volleyball champion Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles defeated their rival in the UAAP Women’s volleyball finals game held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. The game ended with the final score of 25-18, 25-19, 25-19 to take game one of the UAAP women’s volleyball finals at the Araneta Coliseum.

Despite the 20-day layoff of the Lady Eagles, the defending champion easily defeated the Lady Spikers and is now one win away from the title of the UAAP Women’s Volleyball.

Reigning MVP Alyssa Valdez finished with 25 points for the Lady Eagles as the Katipunan-based squad capitalized the absence of the Lady Spikers team captain Ara Galang who suffered from an injury and will be out for the rest of the season due to torn ACL and MCL injuries.

Due to Ateneo’s victory in Game One of the UAAP Women’s Volleyball finals, they are now one win away from a back-to-back championship while their rival, the La Salle Lady Spikers needs to win three straight games as the the defending champion now enjoying a thrice-to-beat advantage.

The Ateneo Lady Eagles also set a record in the UAAP Women’s volleyball this season as they scored their 15th straight victories, the longest winning streak in a season for women’s volleyball.

The defending champion have a total of 17-game winning streak stretching back to the Season 76 Finals.
