In an interview with entertainment website Push, Richard Yap said that he believes Jodi Sta. Maria can portray the role well although it was different from her role as Maya in their top-rating and now defunct daytime series “Be Careful With My Heart.”

“Oo nga eh it’s just a very different role from her being Maya so well I know Jodi can pull it off, she can be anyone who she wants to be eh. Ang galing ni Jodi so I don’t think it’s a problem,” he said.

In the original “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” series, Eula Valdez portrays the  role of Amor Powers, a maid-turned-businesswoman. She is famous for her confrontation scenes with Claudia Buenavista, portrayed by Jean Garcia, the wife of her former flame. Claudia Buenavista will be portrayed by Angelica Panganiban in the remake.

Meanwhile, Jodi Sta. Maria previously denied that she will be playing the role of Amor Powers. It was only confirmed during the trade launch event of ABS-CBN Network on Tuesday December 2, 2014.

“Pangako Sa ‘Yo,” which was originally starred by Kristine Hermosa and Jericho Rosales, will be directed by returning director Rory Quintos. It is set to premiere next year in 2015.
