During the 2013 SONA of President Aquino lawmakers and their immediate family members showcased their best dresses and attires despite the clamor to tone down the glamour during an important political event in the history of the nation.

Some politicians steal the attention away from the true purpose of SONA, particularly those women lawmakers, who wear some updated tribal costumes or modernized Filipiniana outpits.

One of the outspoken lawmakers, Sen. Mirriam Santiago lambasted those public officials who made some fashion statement calling some female solons’ “obsession to bling,” Sen. Santiago even proposed a Senate Resolution prescribing an official uniform for lawmakers to wear during the SONA.
