Philippine Diamond Tower: Country’s Tallest Structure to Rise in Quezon City

The Philippine Diamond Tower, considered as the country’s tallest structure will soon to rise in the former capital of the Philippines, Quezon City. The tallest structure in the Philippines will be built on a seven-hectare property formerly occupied by the Manila Seedling Bank Foundation (MSBF), according to a Quezon City official on Friday’s interview.

According to Victor Endriga, senior adviser to Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, he noted in an interview with Philippine Star that the plan to build a P15 billion, 612-meter telecommunications tower that will be called as the Philippine Diamond Tower will be pushed through by the City Government in cooperation with various private entities.

The Quezon City government already filed a resolution regarding the development of the property owned by the National Housing Authority (NHA), the resolution will allow Mayor Herbert Bautista to enter a joint venture agreement with the NHA, the owner of the 69,759-square meter property that was formerly occupied by the MSBF.

The proposed Philippine Diamond Tower, will be the second highest self-supported tower in the world next to Japan’s Tokyo Sky Tree which is recorded to be at 634-meter high. The Philippine tower, when compared to the tallest buildings in the world, the height of the Diamond Tower would be next to Burj Khalifa in Dubai, (828 meters) and Shanghai Tower in China (623 meters).

The Philippine Diamond Tower would be taller compared to Makkah Royal Clock Tower Hotel in Saudi Arabia (601 meters) and the One World Trade Center in New York (541.3 meters).

The telecommunications tower, which will be used for disaster risk reduction and the center of the Philippine telecommunications operations. Aside from the said purpose, the other areas of the Philippine Diamond Tower will house an international convention center, a five-star hotel, a shopping mall, restaurants, and a garden park.

The height of the tower at 612 meters signifies the Philippine Independence Day which is celebrated every June 6, (612). The ground breaking ceremony will be held this coming October 2, 2014, in line with Quezon City’s 75th Foundation Anniversary (Diamond Anniversary).

  1. Another landmark that all Filipinos can be proud of. I would have made it 635 m to beat Tokyo’s Sky Tree Tower and the Shanghai’s Oriental Pearl Tower.
