The Commission on Elections announced earlier that starting on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, the agency started accepting applicants for voter registration in the upcoming May 9, 2016 Synchronized National, Local and ARMM Regional Elections.
The COMELEC noted that the registration will end on October 31, 2015. The government agency in-charge of Philippine elections made some changes with their scheduled registrations. COMELEC offices nationwide will open starting from Sunday and ends on Thursday to accommodate those who were employed.
According to the Commission on Elections those registered voters who were not enrolled in COMELEC’s biometric database will no longer be allowed to participate in the upcoming national elections.
The COMELEC also noted that those who has not reached the required voting age or period of residence on the day of registration but will possess such qualifications on or before May 9, 2016 elections may register only from May 9, 2015 onwards.
Here’s the Requirements for New Voters: Any Filipino citizen who meets the requirements below is eligible to register and vote:
- At least eighteen (18) years of age on or before May 9, 2016 Synchronized National, Local and ARMM Regional Elections;
- A resident of the Philippines for at least one (1) year and in the place wherein he/she proposes to vote, for at least six (6) months immediately preceding the May 9, 2016 Synchronized National, Local and ARMM Regional Elections; and
- Not otherwise disqualified by law.
All new applicants for the COMELEC Registration should bring with them a photocopy of their Birth Certificate and One Valid ID for their registration.
Here’s the list of Valid Identification (ID) cards:
- Current employee’s identification card (ID), with the signature of the employer or authorized representative;
- Postal ID;
- Student’s ID or library card, signed by the school authority;
- Senior Citizen’s ID;
- Driver’s license;
- NBI/PNP clearance;
- Passport;
- SSS/GSIS ID;
- Integrated Bar of the Philippine (IBP) ID;
- PWD Discount ID
- License issued by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC)
- Certificate of Confirmation issued by the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) in case of members of ICCs or IPs; and
- Any other valid ID.
The above-mentioned documents should bear the applicant’s signature, and address. All applicants who fail to establish his or her identity by any of the aforementioned methods/documents will not be issued an application form while those with pre-accomplished application forms will not be accepted.

pano po kung ung postal ID mo eh yung dati mo pang address and lilipat ako sa makati kasi dun naka tira yung asawa ko then sa makati ako papa register for my voters ID is it ok na gamiting ung postal ID ko for Identification ko kahit sa ibang address naka lagay dun sa Postal ID ko? thank you
