The local government of Muntinlupa has prepared a hero’s welcome for Michael Christian Martinez and a cash reward for the lone Filipino contestant to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia on figure skating men’s category.
The city of Muntinlupa has decided to set a hero’s welcome for Michael Christian Martinez who marked the history as the first ever Filipino athlete on the figure skating.
The 17-year-old athlete is a resident of Muntinlupa City. According to Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, the local government will give a P100,000 reward to Michael Christian Martinez who landed on the 19th place during the finale of the highly anticipated figure skating event.
Michael Christian Martinez is believed to set as an inspiration among Filipino youth hoping to follow his dream. Moreover, the MVP Sports foundation headed by TV5’s top honcho Manny V. Pangilinan will get a $10,000 bonus or approximately P447,107.
Aside from the rewards he will receive from the prominent personalities in the country, the Muntinlupa School for Child Development (MSCD), will also honor him for his global recognition after being on the list of much coveted Winter Olympian.
Meanwhile, the mother of Michael Christian Martinez clarified earlier that she was able to gain (–foul word(s) removed–)istance from the government. It can be recalled that a report recently surfaced online in which Michael Christian got no support from the government.
Michael Christian Martniez has become an inspiration among Filipinos for his excellent and grandeur representation of the Philippines in the Winter Olympics.
