Bagyong Agaton Jan. 20 (5AM-5PM) TD Lingers in Mindanao

The first typhoon that enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility, Tropical Depression Agaton will continue to bring rains in Mindanao as it moved southwest slowly as reported by PAGASA on Monday.

Based upon the latest Tropical Depression Bulletin released by PAGASA at 5:00 AM of January 20, the Bagyong Agaton will linger in the country until Thursday. As of 4:00 AM, Agaton is located at 230 km Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur or 230 km East of Davao City.

Storm Signal No. 1 is raised in 6 areas of Mindanao particularly Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur and Compostela Valley.

Bagyong Agaton Hourly Update (Jan. 20, 2014):

Bagyong Agaton is packed with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and forecast to move west southwest at 5 kph. It will bring moderate to heavy rains over Northern Mindanao and the rest of CARAGA Region. 

PAGASA forecasts that by Thursdya, it will be at 240 kilometers southwest of General Santos City. Davao regions and the provinces of Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur will have heavy rains with gusty winds and moderate to rough seas.

Due to Tropical Depression Agaton, the Visayas and the rest of Mindanao will be cloudy with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms. The Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region, and Palawan will have cloudy skies with light rains. The Metro Manila areas and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloud with isolated light rains.
