NCR Reigns Again In Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League

National Capital Region volleyball squad retained its title after defeating Central Visayas, 25-18, 25-18, 18-25, 25-22, to finish the best of five championship series of the Shakey’s Girls’ Volleyball League Season 11 Tournament of Champions at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The victory was a repeat of the last year championship as the now, three-peat champion NCR also beat the Central Visayas who were represented by South Western University in 2013 edition.

The NCR, who are represented by Hope Christian School players easily took control of the first two sets but dropped the third frame to the Visayan tormentor.

The Visayan spikers then in the fourth gave the NCR girls a tough fight in the end game before Justine Dorog and Ma. Lina Isabel Molde bailed out the eventual champions by delivering key hits.

Dorog recorded 18 hits while Molde added 17 markers for the NCR team.

Frances Derder and Mary Dominic Pacres on the other hand led Central Visayas with 15 and 10 points, respectively.

Earlier, the guest team New Zealand placed third place in the tournament after thumping, Western Visayas, 18-25, 26-24, 25-16.
