April Boy Regino's Cancer Forced Him to RetireJukebox Icon in the 9o’s April Boy Regino is now battling in a prostate cancer, and this reason forced him to leave the music industry for more than 20 years which he considered as a part of his life.

In an interview with 44-year-old April Boy Regino together with Cristy Fermin in one of Television segment called as  Showbiz Police, the Jukebox King of the 90s confessed his struggles as well as his situation right now due to his cancer saying,  “Ang isang tao dapat tanggapin niya na kahit gusting-gusto pa niya ang ginagawa niya, kailangan po niyang tuldukan. Hindi ko po sinasabing gusto kong mawala. Magreretiro na po ako,” he said.

Despite of his battle, the singer April Boy Regino added “Pero pisikal lang po ’yon. Katawan ko lang po ang mawawala pero ang mga awitin ko, andyan pa rin po. Mapapakinggan pa rin po nila ako,” the singer of hit songs “Paano ang Puso Ko,” “Umiiyak ang Puso,” and “Di Ko Kayang Tanggapin.”

For such a long time April Boy Regino kept his struggles in private away from media for him to be able to stay, but for now he never had any choice but to leave the industry he loved, considering the advice given by his physician.

April Boy Regino’s iconic symbol is his long hair and cap, but because of his cancer it was cut, and it so painful for him that his iconic mark had been removed, however his wife keeps on motivating him not to give up.
