Kobe Paras Accepts Scholarship in LA Cathedral High (USA)

Highly popular High School basketball star in the Philippines Kobe Paras opted to accept a basketball scholarship at Cathedral High School in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A as confirmed by his father Benjie Paras.

The 16-year-old Kobe Paras has already left for the United States to play for a US High School Basketball Team. Paas attracted attention in his stint in the FIBA World Under-18 3×3 championship where he ruled the slam dunk competition.

According to the former PBA MVP and father of Kobe, Benjie Paras, his son will try his luck in the United States basketball. Benjie Paras was quoted as saying “It’s worth trying. And if things don’t turn out well, he can return to the Philippines anytime,” said older Paras.

According to a news report from ABS-CBN, San Mig Coffee Fil-Am forward Joe Devance help in facilitating Kobe Paras’ transfer from La Salle Greenhils to Cathedral High. Devance has connection with the head coach of Cathedral High.

Kobe Paras’ older brother Andrei, who plays for the UP Fighting Maroons wishes Kobe the best. He also added that Kobe is grew faster at 6-foot-6 and he plays guard, an indication of having a good chance in US basketball.

The younger Paras is part of the Philippine Team that competed in the U-18 3×3 Asian championship. The team is composed of Thirdy Ravena, Arvin Tolentino and Prince Rivero.
