GSIS Pensioners Receives P12,600 Christmas Bonus for 2013

The pensioner members of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) will receive as much as P12,600 each as Christmas bonus for the year 2013 as part of the government’s P2.1 billion fund for Christmas gifts.

The good news to GSIS pensioners was made public through GSIS President and General manager Robert Vergara who stated that this year’s allocation is 16-7 percent higher than the P1.8 billion earmarked in 2012.

According to a news article from ABS-CBN, a total of 238,490 Government retired workers who are active pensioners of GSIS are entitled to received the Christmas bonus. Active pensioners are those individuals who have been receiving their regular monthly pension as benefits for retirement, old age and disability for at least five years.

The GSIS announced also that the Christmas Cash gift was credited to the pensioner’s eCard accounts. For pensioners who are living abroad or living in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) who are on suspended status at the time of the grant of the Christmas cash gift will not be eligible to receive their bonus, but may still qualify if they activate their status not later than April 30, 2014.

In a similar report by GMA, the GSIS clarified that pensioners receiving their cash gift for the first time will receive an amount equivalent to a month’s pension but the amount will not exceed P10,000.

For pensioners who received a cash gift of more than P10,000 in previous years will get one month’s pension up to a maximum of P12,600.

  1. RETIRED April 2009, filed five (5) year lump sum, continued to received monthly pension April 2014. Per memo, pensioners continued to received regular pension after 31 December 2013, are entitled to receive Christmas gift. Per inquiry from bank last year, no cash gift was given?? Why?

    • i still do not have the ATM from LAND BANK. I am getting my monthly pension beginning April 2014 at UNION BANK Boromeo branch. I inquired from the branch manager about my CHRISTMAS cash gift on 2014 8th December , till November 2015. The reply was negative. i received the 10 thousand Christmas cash gift of 2014 on December 8th 0ne year later. Last January 8, 2015, i also inquired about my 2015 Christmas cash gift. The answer by the branch manager;” NONE.”
