Bantayan Island Visited by Cruise Ship Columbus II (Photos)

One of the world’s most popular cruise ship, the C/S Columbus II owned by Oceania Cruises but sailing under lease from Hapag-Lloyd visited one of best pristine island in the Visayas. The Columbus II Cruise Ship is the first of its kind that visited the island of Bantayan, one of the world’s most popular island destination.

According to the people of Bantayan who welcomed the cruise ship’s p(–foul word(s) removed–)engers, most of the guests came from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The three municipalities comprising the island namely Sta. Fe, Bantayan and Madridejos have prepared some presentations for the visitors.

The Columbus II Cruise Ship arrived at Bantayan Island on February 25, 2013 at around noon, all of the p(–foul word(s) removed–)engers disembarked from the cruise ship and was pitched by MV Island Shipping ships. Most of the guests stayed at Beach Placid Resorts while some of them have visited popular tourist spots in Bantayan Island.

The cruise only fares amounted from $2,412 up to $13,512. The entire package itinerary involves a visit from Manila then cruised to Boracay, Bantayan Island, Bohol, Sandakan in Malaysia, Puerto Princesa and Coron in Palawan and their final destination is in downtown HongKong.

The cruise ship which is manned by around 400 crew members has a Gross Tonnage of 30,277; powered by combined 13500 kW. The Columbus II has a speed of 18 knots (33 km/h; 21 mph) and a length of 180.96 m (593.7 ft).
