Smart Gilas to Leave for Hongkong After Dubai’s Tourney

The members of the Smart Gilas Pilipinas mostly composed of amateur basketball stars will be leaving for Hongkong after they failed to make it to the semi-finals in the Dubai Tournament.

Gilas Coach Chot Reyes will be with their family and then leave for Hongkong tomorrow, January 20, 2013 for another international invitational basketball match.

According to Gilas Operations Chief Butch Antonio they will be sending mostly their amateur players, composed of Garvo Lanete, Greg Slaughter, RR Garcia, Kevin Alas, Ronald Pascual, Jake Pascual, Matt Ganuelas, Justin Melton, and Isaac Holstein together with veteran Marcus Douthit and PBA star Gary David.

PBA reinforcements KG Canaleta, Ronjay Buenafe and JayR Reyes are already rejoining their mother teams in the PBA. The Hongkong Invitational is more lighter compared to the previous Dubai tourney where Smart Gilas suffered a 1-3 win-loss cards.

Smart Gilas will be playing against the national teams of Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Hong Kong plus a local club team and a club squad from mainland China.
