The Smart Gilas Pilipinas suffered their first defeat in the currently held Dubai International Basketball Tournament against Al Ahli Club with the final score of 97-82.
The National Team’s lack of maturity was exposed during the match as they battle against three ex-NBA veterans. American imports Leemire Goldwire and LeRoy Hurd led the home team Al Ahli with 24 and 21 points respectively.
Right now the Philippines is tied at the second spot with 1-1 win-loss card after their opponent lost also to Sproting Aramex of Jordan during their first outings.
Veteran Gilas player Marcus Douthit was held with just 9 points while Garvo Lanete and Nino Canaleta led the Nationals with 12 and 10 points respectively.
The Philippines will take on Sporting Amarex on Monday in its final Group B battle in the preliminary stage.
