Nonito Donaire Defeated Nishioka via TKO Retained Crown

The reigning Filipino Super Bantamweight title-holder, Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire retained his world title and proved his supremacy after a 9th round stoppage against Japanese Toshiaki Nishioka.

The two most popular boxer in the 122 pound division slugged it out at the Home Depot Center in Carson City, California for the double-header world title fight.

The Filipino tried to bring the action to Nishioka but the Japanese was able to maintain his stance and eluded some of Donaire’s punches.

The former 122 pound title holder,  Nishioka was finally caught by Donaire’s speed at around 6th round when the Filipino landed a left uppercut that floored the Japanese.

Although wounded and feeling he was outboxed by Donaire, the Japanese responded with some intelligent blows that keeps the crowd felt the excitement of the game.

Nonito Donaire charged once again at the 8th round when he landed heavily and accurately to the body and face of the Japanese although he tried to answer but the Filipino dominated.

Finally at the 9th round of the game a hard straight rocketed through Nishioka and the Filipino finished the round as the Japanese was caught flat-footed and he fell once again to the canv(–foul word(s) removed–). Although he was able to beat the count at 8th by Referee Raul Caiz Jr.

The Filipino champion, Donaire, pounded again the Japanese and the referee finally stopped the fight when the Nishioka failed to answer the barrage of shots from Donaire. The time stoppage was 1:54 in the 9th round.

Donaire pounded his foe after that and Caiz stopped the fight immediately after witnessing the barrage of shots land on the Japanese fighter.
