Philippine Cities Dominates New 7 Wonder Cities in Southeast Asia and Oceania

The New7Wonders launched the New7Wonders Cities last November 4, 2011 and started accepting nominees until December 31, 2011 wherein several cities from the Philippines was nominated. After more than two months of nominations a total of 7 cities from the Philippines dominated the Southeast Asia and Oceania Region.

The nomination phase of the New 7 Wonder Cities started last January 7, 2012 to March 7, 2012 with a total of more than 1,200 cities from 220 different countries around the world.

The next stage is the qualification phase which started from March 7, 2012 to November 23, 2012. A total of more than 300 cities will qualify, one city on each country added by the top 77 nominated cities.

From the top 300 cities it will be shortlisted to the top official 28 finalist candidates from November 23 to December 6, 2012. The finalists will be divided again into three phases and the announcement of the Final New 7 Wonder Cities will be announce on December 7, 2013.

Meanwhile here are the list of the top cities which came from the Philippines:

  2. Cebu City
  3. Davao City
  4. Iloilo City
  5. Cagayan de Oro City
  6. Bacolod City
  7. Paranaque City

Rounding up the top 20 cities in Southeast Asia and Oceania were Sydney, Singapore and Jakarta respectively.
