Famous Aerosmith band member Steven Tyler said that he signed as a judge of “American Idol”, although he hasn’t watched the show, to oppose his estranged bandmates.

Tyler, 63 year old singer, on the publicizing trail for his new autobiography entitled “Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?”, been fighting off a legal threat to put him out of the band he co-established 40 years ago so that he could be able to participate in the America’s top-rated TV show.

In a cover story for Rolling Stone magazine, Tyler said “Did I take this job to show the band? F—, yeah” and added that he did this not to show them, but that I can’t be held hostage anymore. I will be my own hostage. The band can’t throw me out.

Tyler together with his four bandmates hit a new low relationship in 2009 after he fell of the stage in the middle of his performance and broke his shoulder, caused their tour to be canceled.

His bandmates were far from showing any comp(–foul word(s) removed–)ion, went public with their intentions to find another member to replace him. “F— them, get me a job.” Tyler, said he told his manager. After beating about 40 other contenders, including Who rocker Roger Daltrey, for the job, Tyler ended up on “Idol”.

His bandmates became more furious and even claimed in legal papers that Tyler “Idol” gig was as good as to a refusal to tour- an offense of the rules of their partnership, Rolling Stone said. But it noticed that Tyler’s “Idol” contract only means that he is given freedom to tour with the band.

In the NBC interview, Tyler said that he still have conflicts with his bandmates, but wrote a letter seeking a detente and a desire to return to the studio to record the band’s first album of new material since 2001.

In an interview to be broadcast on Sunday Tyler told NBC anchor Matt Lauer “Remember, being in a band this big, it’s a very heavy marriage,”
