World Renowned Filipino furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue was one of the prominent figure in the international furniture scene. His latest creation the  “Phoenix” was an instant hit in Milan, Italy. The design was made from pure bamboo and rattan. “Phoenix” was the first and only bamboo car that will hit the market someday.

The design of Kenneth Cobonpue was showcased at Salone Internazionale del Mobile during the Milan Design Week. His design “Phoenix” was inspired by his love of nature and his p(–foul word(s) removed–)ion for cars as evident to his latest design. The Cebuano designer had already made a name in Hollywood for his previous designs which was brought personally by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

Some of Kenneth’s design which were used in Hollywood movies such as Ocean’s Eleven and Star Trek. One of his bed was also used in Maroon 5 music video.

The “Phoenix” designed by Cobonpue was the first biodegradable car if produced commercially. Some big names in automobile industry was interested on his design. The designed which had no engine, caught the attention of car industry. “Phoenix” was just 153 inches long with a ch(–foul word(s) removed–)is formed from a curved bamboo spine to accomodate the wheels.

Mr. Cobonpue when interviewed was quoted as saying “This project attempts to unveil the future of green vehicles using woven skins from organic fibers mated to composite materials and powered by green technology,” says Mr. Cobonpue when asked about his latest design.

Kenneth gave credits to his employees in his factory in Cebu for the craftmanship and talents that was instrumentals on all his success in doing business. He was quoted as saying “When it comes to skills, we’re second to none in Asia. We make beautiful things that we can truly call our own. That is what I want to accomplish with my pieces. I always carry that Filipino spirit and have it resonate through my work.”
