Senator Panfilo Lacson’s term as a Senator will soon end in the year 2013. But he said that if granted, he will be willing to continue serving the public if the administration of our President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III will offer him a position in the Cabinet by the end of his term.

During an ambush interview with some reporters Monday, Sen. Lacson proudly said that he is a person “who will not shy away from responsibility”. He also added an immediate end to rumors spreading that he was being offered a position to become the Secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Lacson said that those above stated rumors were not taken up during a meeting with the President Aquino.

Last month, he was with the President in a moment after he surprisingly appeared from hiding himself from the public to escape from being arrested as he was involved in the controversial Dacer and Corbito double murder case. Lacson’s escape last for more than one year.

Lacson also stated during the interview that the current secretary of DILG, Sec. Jesse Robredo, should be given the chance to continue doing the (–foul word(s) removed–)ignment given to him. “I think he should stay there and perform his duty as DILG secretary”, Lacson said.

Long before, Senator Panfilo Lacson was appointed as the chief of the Philippine National Police. His duty as PNP Chief lasted from November 1999 to January of the year 2001. In term of service as a Chief of Police was also the time he was accused as the mastermind of the seizure and murdering the publicist named Salvador “Bubby” Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito. The case was then famous as the Dacer-Corbito double murder case.

After a number of years of investigation, the Court of Appeals finally decided to dismiss the murder cases filed against Senator Lacson.
