NAIA Terminal 1 Ranked as the 5th Worst Airports in the World

Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) voted to be as one of the 10 worst airports in the world and in the Asia in 2010. A survey has been done through an interactive website where in travellers describe the airport as a “bombed-out ruin” and a “cattle yard”.

The interactive site “The Guide to Sleeping in airports” ranked the NAIA terminal 1 as the fifth (5th) worst airports in the world, behind two in France, including the airports Charles De Gaulle in Paris, and airports in Los Angeles and Moscow.

The ranking of the airports were based on the reviews given by the travellers who complained in several things including safety concerns, lack of comfortable seating, rude staff, hostile security, poor facilities, no services to p(–foul word(s) removed–) the time, and many more.

The website “The Guide to Sleeping in airports” where started by travel agent Donna MacSherry in 1995 and until now the site updates every year the list of the best and worst airports in the world.

Back in 2009, NAIA was ranked also as the 7th worst airports in the world which means it rise two places in 2010. Two more airports in Asia were also included in the list both from India, in New Delhi and Bombay which took the sixth and eight place in the ranking.

Complaints by the travellers in NAIA were mostly concerned in the terminal 1, which is the location for all the international flights except those of PAL which uses the terminal 2 and Cebu Pacific, Air Philippines and All Nippon Airways which occupied the terminal 3.

One of the reviewers in the site named Brenty described the airport as a bomb-out ruin, a cattle yard, only worse, that has a filthy toilets and lack of seats for the p(–foul word(s) removed–)enger.

Another critic named Mecanix said “Bribery and corruption in this airport is rife and the scams start the minute you walk off the plane”.

On the other hand, the website also acknowledge that there is hope for the NAIA airport if you go to terminal 3 where it is clean, spacious and has an internet connection.
