Reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach shared an inspiring speech at the most anticipated nights of the 65th Miss Universe pageant, The Governor’s ball.
Pia shared how the Philippine hosting of the pageant came about. The queen joined the candidates to one of the most exclusive Pre-pageant activities of the Miss Universe Competition, The Governor’s ball.
The most glamorous ball was held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. It is considered as one of the most anticipated events of the 65th Miss Universe pageant.
Reigning queen Pia Wurtzabach delivered an inspiring speech at the Governor’s Ball on Monday night.
According to the report of Rappler, the Queen speaks from her heart and shared how the event started.
“When I won Miss Universe, I learned from Paula (Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization) that she’s always wanted to have the competition here in the Philippines. And I asked her, ‘How do we get the ball rolling?’ And she said, ‘Well maybe you can throw the idea out there and then maybe some will take interest in it and then we can make it possible.’ So that’s what I did. It all started with an idea and so, the private sector came in,” she said.
In her speech, Pia thanked everyone for bringing back the pageant to the country. She said that she is very thankful and proud that she will end her reign as the Miss Universe in her country.
“I’m really proud that it’s actually happening here. I can’t think of a better way to end my reign as Miss Universe.”
Two weeks before she p(–foul word(s) removed–) the crown to the next queen, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach said some inspiring ideas not just for her future predecessor, but also for every aspiring beauty queen.
In her speech, Pia said that she is grateful that she got the chance to compete and win the crown at Miss Universe. She also mentioned that hard work of a candidate representing her country in the pageant.
Wherein they are the best of the best of the respective countries ding their best to compete for the Miss Universe crown.
“Miss Universe is all about empowering women. Behind that sash is a girl with a story of inspiration, of empowerment, and that’s what Miss Universe is all about. It’s not just a pretty girl on stage who’s fit, who is wearing a beautiful designer gown. It’s about a woman with a story; a woman who’s ready to be the spokesperson; a woman who’s ready to take on the job. And I hope that woman is ready,” She said.
According to the report, the candidates will be heading to Cebu, Batangas, and Davao for the next round of activities.
The swimsuit competition of the pageant will be held in Cebu City.
