Unfinished Guiuan Municipal Hall, Temporary Offices Showed By DSWD Secretary

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Sec. Judy M. Taguiwalo shows the unfinished Guiuan municipal hall in Eastern Samar.

Taguiwalo visited Guiuan, Eastern Samar, which is one of the most damaged areas struck by the Super typhoon Yolanda. The province was severely damaged by the super typhoon last 2013 and numerous residents of the province were left homeless.

The DSWD secretary was surprised on the temporary offices of the local government officials, composed of bamboo slats and container vans. The town’s municipality was still far from completion due to lack of funds.

They are also hoping that this issue could be immediately acted by the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte. The unfinished municipal hall of Eastern Samar is expected to be blamed on the red tape.

Taguiwalo informed Mark Villar, secretary of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Villar has vowed to provide an immediate action regarding this matter. Villar and Taguiwalo are now working out on how to immediately finish the reconstruction of Guiuan municipal hall.

The Guiuan municipal hall’s current situation seems so difficult because of the unfinished reconstruction of their hall. Netizens blame the previous administration for being irresponsible with their actions.
