Marc Anthony made the announcement of divorcing De Lima after his steamy kiss with ex-wife and singer JLo
American Singer Marc Anthony has formally announced that he had filed a divorce from his wife of two years, Venezuelan model Shannon de Lima.
The singer called it quits on his third marriage two days before they went public with their divorce.
It has been revealed that the 48 year old Anthony filed legal documents to formally free him from the knot of marriage with 28 year old De Lima.
In the divorce documents, which came to light on December 28, Wednesday, the American singer states that their marriage was ‘irretrievably broken’.
Marc Anthony and Shannon got married in November 2014 and shared no child together.
According to reports, the pair had been separated since November but only announced regarding their split in December.
He said that arriving at the decision of divorce did not come easy. He added that it came after so much consideration until they both mutually and amicably decided to end their marriage.
The couple is asking for privacy during the difficult process of separation and said that there will be no further comments to be made from either one of them about this personal matter.
Before De Lima, Marc was married to singer Jennifer Lopez to whom he had twin children, Max and Emme, now aged eight. They got married in 2004 but split up in 2011 but finalized their divorce in 2014.
But prior to Lopez, he was wedded to Puerto Rican actress, singer, model, writer and beauty queen who won Miss Universe 1993, Dayanara Torres, and Maria Von Ritchie Lopez, granddaughter to Baron A.P Von Ritchie Anderson Great Nephew of Maria Theresa of Austria of the House of Hapsburg.
Rumors have spread that Anthony and De Lima’s divorce was further concreted after the steamy kiss between him and JLo during the Latin Grammys.
JLo got to introduce his ex-husband, saying that Marc would always be many things in her life, including being a “mentor, a soulmate, and a father”.
She also said Marc is a living legend and not only a “Person of the Year”.
However, not everybody is buying the rumors, with some saying the kiss was only a showmance to promote a yet-to-be revealed song together.
Also, if Anthony wants to win JLo back, he may have some serious competition with the singer now linked to rapper Drake, who lately posted on social media a photo of them cuddling.
