Technology Provider Smartmatic was expecting the Comelec to “physically” turn over more than 97,000 VCMs that it leased for May polls.

Smartmatic executive Elie Moreno confirmed to the media that they are expecting the Comelec to return the machine to them in the same manner that it was delivered them upon the lease.

In a recent news report GMA news, more than 97,000 vote counting machines (VCMs) that were leased by the Comelec to the Technology provider Smartmatic for the May Polls.

Moreno said in an interview, that the they are expecting the Comelec will return the machines to them in the same manner that the technology provider delivered them upon lease.

Well in practical terms… when Comelec received the machines, we actually brought them to the warehouse, delivered to them, did the processes, and it’s only at that time that the delivery is considered actually executed. So we expect that to happen also.” Moreno said in an interview with GMA News on Tuesday.

Furthermore, Moreno said that he already met with the Comelec Chair Andres Bautista and Senior Commissioner Christian Robert Lim.

Moreno revealed that they met to discuss the P2 billion Smartmatic charged the Comelec over the delayed return of the vote counting machines (VCMs).

Moreno pointed out that the poll body should have made a “physical” turnover of the machines by December 1.

Despite a letter from Lim dated Nov. 28, signifying that the poll body was already turning over the VCMs. Moreno revealed to the media that the letter that was submitted by Lim was only for “a paper turnover.”

According to a report of GMA news, it is still unclear whether the Comelec would have to pay the amount.
