‘Before the year 2017 ends, we would have a new vice president,’ Sen. Trillanes Says

TRILLANES – Senator Antonio Trillanes IV expressed his belief that the Philippines will be having a new vice president before the year 2017 would come to an end.

The recent resignation of Vice President Leni Robredo from the Cabinet as chairperson of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDDC) has elicited a lot of reactions and sparked a lot of headlines.

Based on a previous news report, the Vice President’s decision to step down from the post came after she received a text message asking her to ‘desist from attending all Cabinet meetings’.

After her announcement, she took to social media all her accomplishments as the chairperson of HUDDC.

In some reports, she has also expressed an assurance to her supporters that she will remain as the Vice President. Vice Pres. Robredo assured the people that she won’t let anybody ‘steal the vice presidency’ from her.

However, in a recent news report in Manila Bulletin, one senator has expressed his belief that another person will seat on the second-highest position in the country before the year 2017 would come to an end.

Based on the report, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV expressed her prediction that a new vice president will take the position next year.

Sen. Trillanes said, “I do believe that before the year 2017 ends, we would have a new vice president.”

Furthermore, the Senator affirmed that it has a link with the election protest of former Sen. Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.

Sen. Trillanes also revealed that information regarding the move of the allies of Pres. Duterte to speed up the election protest of the former Senator has reached him.

He further expressed his belief that the Marcoses will have the power back in time and nobody would dare to impeach Pres. Duterte as his successor is the son of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
