Palawan Hosts 6th Meeting Of Chief Justices In Southeast Asia

The sixth Association of Southeast Asian Nations meeting of chief justices is being hosted by Palawan starting November to up to 14.

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan – The sixth Association of Southeast Asian Nations meeting of chief justices is now being held in the Philippines, starting November 10 up to 14.

The ASEAN Chief Justices’ Roundtable on Environment is held to strengthen the ties, coordination and cooperation among the heads of the judicial branches of government of the nations which are members of the ASEAN.

This year’s meeting is at Puerto Princesa City in Palawan Province, which is also a haven of tourist spots and the home of a UNESCO heritage site, the Puerto Princesa Underground River.

The three-day meeting, which is divided into three parts, will discuss the progress among the ASEAN judiciaries in advancing environmental justice, emerging environmental and judicial challenges, and paving the way ahead for ASEAN judicial cooperation on the environment.

The host country’s chief magistrate, Philippine Supreme Court Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno is expected to lead the convention while SC Associate Justice Teresita de Castro, Jose Perez, Mariano del Castillo and Estela Perlas – Bernabe have also signified their attendance.
