Shinzo Abe Welcomes Duterte’s Effort To Improve Relation With China

Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte’s effort in boosting ties with China welcomed by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

On Wednesday (October 26, 2016), Japan’s Prime Minister supported Duterte’s effort to boost its economic ties with China. The Philippine president confirmed the importance of peaceful resolution regarding the South China Sea, in accordance with the international law.

The Philippine president also assured Abe that there will no military alliance that will happen between Philippines and China. After their meeting, Abe welcomes President Duterte state visit to China last week for improving the relation between China and Philippines.

Duterte’s Effort

Japan was also involved in the maritime dispute with China for the five uninhabited islands in the east China Sea. Japanese government and businesses worry on Duterte’s declaration that the Philippines will cut its ties with the United States. Japan hosts 50, 000 US troops and also a staunch ally of US.
