Agriculture Sector Lost P10.2 Billion Because Of Karen, Lawin

The two typhoons which hit the Philippine Area of Responsibility have left the agriculture sector with P10.2 billion loss.

Typhoon Karen and Super Typhoon Lawin left a P10.2 billion worth of damage in the sector of agriculture in the country.

In the initial damage (–foul word(s) removed–)sment report, Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Manny Piñol said that around P10,216,646,814 worth of agricultural products has been lost because of the last two typhoons which hit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Based on the said report, P1.7 billion worth of vegetables were also lost, also P602.3 million worth of corn, and P86 million in the fishing sector.

Meanwhile, more than P6.5 million worth of livestock was also lost while a large plantation of root crops and high value crops was also damage amounting to P2.2 million.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has initially reported a P2 billion worth of damage of Super Typhoon Lawin alone to Northern Luzon.
