White House Warns Duterte: ‘Be Careful With Your Rhetoric’

The White House has finally issued its warning against the rhetoric of Duterte following his pronouncements of breaking up ties with the US.

WASHINGTON – The White House has issued its warning on President Rodrigo Duterte’s ‘alarming’ rhetoric following his pronouncements of breaking up ties with the United States.

During his four-day trip in China, President Duterte expressly said that he is breaking economic and military ties with the United States of America.

According to White House spokesman Josh Earnest, Duterte has let go of so many pronouncements that he is breaking ties with the US which put to danger the 70-year long ‘friendship’ of the two countries.

“We certainly have seen a lot of this kind of troubling rhetoric recently. The rhetoric is inexplicably at odds with the warm relationship that exists between the Filipino and American people, and the important cooperation that’s existed between the U.S. and the Philippines at a government and military level for decades”, said Earnest.

“We haven’t heard any specifics from the Filipino government about what precisely President Duterte means when he refers to a separation, but those comments are creating unnecessary uncertainty in our relationship”, the White House spokesman added.
