Super Typhoon Haima Approaching In Hong Kong, Signal No.8 Was Raised

Signal no.8 was raised in Hong Kong on Friday (Oct. 21, 2016), due to approaching Super Typhoon Haima or “Lawin” that recently strike the Philippines.

Hong Kong currently went into a lockdown on Friday for the Super Typhoon Haima, who recently strike the Philippines and took the lives of at least eight people. In Southeast Hong Kong offices and schools were closed, roads were clear of cars, pavements empty and the flights were canceled.

Before hitting China, the super typhoon is expected to hit Hong Kong around 11:00 am, while Haima’s center was 130 kilometers away. Early on Friday, the third highest warning level was raised forecasting strong winds and rains, so storm signal number 8 was issued by Hong Kong Observatory.

Some residents went to the harbor and take pictures of waves and tried their luck, despite the warning. Also, residents of Kennedy town near western Hong Kong get soaked in the waves near roadside coastal barriers.
